UK outfit Alt-J will bring this twitchy experimental pop tune to the Laneway Festival in a couple of weeks. Taken from their Mercury Prize-winning debut An Awesome Wave, Fitzpleasure is Pink Floyd meets Animal Collective meets Sigur Rós, a willfully arty blend of popping vocal notes, arrested drum beats and bowel-shaking electro, with the odd drift through atmospheric space. It’s interesting, but it doesn’t do much for the soul. It is, however, excellent music for vacant-eyed hipsters who don’t really like anything.
