The silly season might be over, but as far as great gigs go, it looks like Melbourne is only getting started. This week, there are a plethora of all ages and family friendly events happening around town. Up in Coburg, the Velodrome Food Truck Festivalis taking off with a bunch of awesome local acts taking the stage each day for free. Who doesn’t love rad tunes with their tacos? Shadow Electric’s Shimmerlands at Melbourne University has well and truly kicked off, playing host to an exciting program of live gigs and outdoor movies. This Saturday features the Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s Ska-BQwhich is sure to get everybody shaking with its lineup featuring local and interstate acts guaranteed to provide maximum good times. Meanwhile at The Push, we’re accepting applications for our brand new Music Industry Pathways program up until Friday February 3. The program offers you the opportunity to receive hands on experience and guidance from a capable mentor reflecting your ambition. Whether your interest lies in performance, artist management, record labels, marketing or technical production, the program has an arsenal of experts just waiting for the wave of tomorrow (you). For budding songwriters, the Push Songs program is also back for 2017. For the next round, applications are closing on Monday January 30, so best get onto that one pronto. The program offers young performers of any background exceptional private songwriting tuition and workshops with professional and inspirational mentors like Wil Wagner, Angie Hart, Oh Pep!, Clare Reynolds, Will Cuming and Cash Savage.
