Afghanistan’s Hidden Treasure To Tour Australia

p285138044050bis.jpg

Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul will feature more than 230 precious objects from archaeological sites along the Silk Road, viewable in Australia for the first time. Thought to have been lost or destroyed during years of conflict, the treasures were unexpectedly recovered in 2003, from vaults where museum staff had hidden them for safekeeping. Organised by the National Geographic Society, the exhibition will feature jewelery, sculpture, ivories, glassware and other ancient works of art.
