A celebration of Australia’s relationship with contemporary Asia, Asia TOPA invites audiences into an eclectic world of artists, musicans and performers who will experiment with both perceptions and expectations. No two evenings are the same, as the players are given free reign to energetically challenge and delight.
The artistically-diverse lineup includes the likes of Filipino performance artist Eisa Jocson, Taipei rapper Aristophanes, Japanese psychedelic acid-punk collective Bo Ningen, South Korean post rock trio Jambinai, Port Moresby’s rising urban music stars Rebel Musik and eclectic world project Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band.
Indonesian heavy metal and punk-opera duo Senyawa will team up with some of Melbourne’s most respected choreographers Lucy Guerin and Gideon Obarzanek for a trance-noise odyssey in Attractor, and curator and performance artist Eisa Jocson explores the intriguing statement on masculinity in the clubs of Manila with Macho Dancer.
