A two-day seafood and live music street party is coming to South Melbourne Market

The Port Phillip Mussel & Jazz Festival returns for its seventh year.

Across two days, South Melbourne Market will play host to a massive street party celebrating food, music and dance. With a focus on seafood and jazz, the festival is bursting with live entertainment and tantalising eats.

Feast on the likes of hot mussel paella, wok-cooked drunken mussels and mussels cooked in buttermilk batter and served with crispy cos lettuce and chimichurri, with a smorgasbord of seafood on the menu.

Bambu, Claypots Evening Star, Simply Spanish, Koy and Paco Y Lola will all be serving up their own takes on mussels for the occasion, with a slew of chefs from other favourites of the Melbourne food scene set to pop up at the festival with their own fresh seafood dishes.

Wash it all down with a selection of sangria, wine, craft beer and artisan ice-cream as you settle in for the festival’s sonic spread.

The huge lineup of live music acts includes Alma Zygier, La Nuit Blanche, JAzmaris, Elvis, Loretta & Her Boyfriends, Jake Mason Trio, Noriko Tadano and George Kamikawa, Margie Lou Dyer Quintet, and Horns of Leroy, making for an eclectic offering of jazz encompassing every facet of the genre.

Port Phillip Mussel & Jazz Festival is happening at South Melbourne Market on Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8. Entry is free, find all the details here
