Sydney Chef Junda Khoo has officially opened three new eateries in Melbourne.
The final installment of the Ho Jiak multiverse has landed with three new restaurants in Melbourne for a reimagined Malaysian experience like no other.
The trio of venues were launched in late May with Ho Liao; a rooftop beer hall, followed by the takeaway stall Da Bao serving Chinese Malaysian food on the ground floor and last week saw Ho Jiak: Junda’s Playground join the family, celebrating homestyle Malaysian dining.

Part of the Ho Jiak group, renowned for its inventive Malaysian cuisine in Sydney, the three-storey extravaganza will celebrate the best of Malaysian cuisine right here in Melbourne.
The name Ho Liao means ‘good stuff’ in Hokkien, reflecting Junda Khoo’s intent to spotlight the hearty, soulful dishes of his heritage.
Signature offerings include juicy Inchi Kabin (Nyonya fried chicken wings), roast duck aged for 10 days before roasting, and Assam Barramundi simmered in sambal and tamarind.
The space invites you to enjoy a relaxed, communal atmosphere and a menu steeped in nostalgic comfort.
With Da Bao, the groundfloor takeaway with three choices of rice dishes or other tasty rice and noodle options, everything is fresh and tasty from hot bain maries, quick and easy to-go.
Ho Jiak sees slightly more elevated dining, though still with a focus on homey comfort.
