A new intergalactic rock concert is coming to Australia

Brace yourselves, Queen Kong is coming to Melbourne. In Aussie cabaret singer Sarah Ward’s new theatrical installation, The Legend of Queen Kong Episode II: Queen Kong in Outer Space, Arts Centre Melbourne will become the base camp for an intergalactic rock show between Wednesday, January 16 — Sunday January 20. Don’t worry if you haven’t caught the first chapter of Queen Kong, it doesn’t actually exist yet.

After being trapped by the human race for being too large, Kong eventually escapes and heads out on an adventure through time and space, all while backed up by a live soundtrack. The multimedia performance centres around themes of what it means to be human and the many quirks of religion.

Opening night attendees are invited to rock up and rock out in their own galaxy-inspired outfits in order to match the cast’s extravagant costumes. The performance has been produced with accessibility in mind, and some of the performances available for Auslan interpretation.
