Mountain bikers, rejoice! There's a brand new bike trail for you to get your kicks on in Melbourne's east.

A 30km stretch of new mountain bike trails has opened today in Melbourne’s east, with another 70km still to come for Warburton Bike Park.

The Warburton Bike Park delivers fresh trails for speed enthusiasts and bushland explorers alike. The first 30 kilometres of trails now welcome riders in the Yarra State Forest.

The Victorian and Commonwealth governments both invested in this mountain biking destination. The Warburton Bike Park will expand significantly over the coming years. An additional 70 kilometres of trails will arrive by 2027.

Yarra Ranges Shire Council leads this ambitious project. The development splits into two distinct stages. The federal government contributed $4.3 million to the initiative. The state government added $3 million through the Growing Suburbs Fund.

Several organisations provided valuable input during development. Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation shared cultural knowledge. Melbourne Water offered technical expertise. The Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank supported the first stage with a grant.

The park caters to diverse riding preferences and skill levels. Terrain varies throughout the trail network. Features accommodate different riding styles across the forest environment. All Victorians can access these new recreational opportunities.

Mountain biking enthusiasts will find challenges suited to their abilities. Beginners can build confidence on gentler sections. Advanced riders can tackle more technical terrain. The forest setting provides natural beauty alongside adrenaline-pumping descents.

The project represents significant investment in outdoor recreation infrastructure. Local communities will benefit from increased tourism and recreational opportunities. The bike park strengthens Melbourne’s reputation as a cycling destination.

Stage two development will commence following the completion of initial trails. The full 100-kilometre network will establish the park as a premier mountain biking venue.
