Hilariously quirky Scottish doctor Marc Isaac is set to deliver a dose of comedy with their new Melbourne International Comedy Festival show.
Marc Isaac presents A Kilted Doc, a comedic storytelling experience that explores the spectrum of neurodivergence through the lens of a queer, autistic medical professional. The show navigates Isaac’s journey from childhood in Glasgow through medical school, to working in palliative care and mental health.

A Kilted Doc promises to reveal the unfiltered thoughts behind the healthcare consultation, with Isaac sharing what doctors are really thinking during patient interactions. The performance examines what it means to receive a diagnosis and whether it helps us understand ourselves better, combining the “cynicism of a perpetual sceptic and hopefulness of a naïve optimist.”
Despite identifying as shy and reflective off-stage, Isaac has always enjoyed performing and entertaining audiences with witticisms and anecdotes from their colourful life experiences. Since attending Melbourne comedy school Hard Knock Knocks in 2023, they’ve gone on to produce successful shows at comedy festivals across Australia.
“Laughter is the best medicine, and this cheeky physician is putting themselves out of the doctor business!” – Brad Oakes
Isaac was born and raised in ‘Glesga’ in bonnie Scotland, describing their comedy style as “fun and cheeky,” drawing on experiences growing up neurodivergent in the east end of Glasgow. Their medical background, particularly in sensitive areas like palliative care and mental health, provides rich material for their comedic storytelling.
Beyond their solo show, Isaac has established a successful monthly LGBTQI+ comedy night in Melbourne, with the mission to “Make Stand Up Queer Again!” The performer has previously taken their acts to Sydney Comedy Festival in 2024, and Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals in 2025.
A Kilted Doc plays as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which runs from 26 March to 20 April 2025. The show takes place in the Function Room at the Limerick Arms Hotel. Expect an insightful exploration of healthcare from multiple perspectives – medical, queer, and manifestly autistic – delivered with Scottish charm and candour.
