Explore the cosmos through a new monthly event at Melbourne Planetarium, just for adults.

Scienceworks has launched Discover The Night Sky, a monthly Melbourne stargazing series for adults only. The program features astronomer Dr Tanya Hill as host.

The series combines science education with entertainment. Additionally, participants can explore different astronomical topics each month. The Melbourne Planetarium provides the perfect setting for these monthly cosmic adventures.

Each event blends scientific knowledge with captivating storytelling. Similarly, dazzling visuals project onto the 16-metre domed screen. Consequently, guests can sink into reclining chairs while learning about exoplanets, the Milky Way and black holes.

The program offers interactive elements beyond the planetarium shows. Therefore, expert talks and Q&A sessions provide opportunities for deeper learning. Additionally, weather permitting, telescope viewings take place on the Scienceworks Arena.

Amateur astronomers guide the telescope sessions. Meanwhile…the Planetarium’s galaxy bar opens from 7pm. Consequently, visitors can enjoy drinks and light snacks before or after their cosmic journey.

The 2025 program covers diverse astronomical topics. For instance, July 31 focuses on discovering the Heart of the Milky Way. Then, August 28 explores September’s Lunar Eclipse. Further into the year, September 25 examines Saturn Returns with a closer look at the ringed planet.

October 30 highlights the James Webb Space Telescope’s three years of scientific observations. Finally, November 27 offers a tour of the night sky’s brightest stars.

Each session provides fresh perspectives on our universe. The series caters specifically to adult learners.

Dr Tanya Hill brings extensive astronomical expertise to each presentation. Meanwhile, the amateur astronomers provide hands-on telescope experience.

The program encourages appreciation for our place in the universe. Similarly, it demonstrates how modern astronomy continues expanding our understanding.

Scienceworks designed the series for both beginners and experienced stargazers. Additionally, the varied topics ensure something new each month.
