A Chris Cornell tribute show is hitting Melbourne to raise funds for Beyond Blue

Some of Melbourne’s finest local musicians will get together to pay tribute to the life and music of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who died tragically this year.

Superunknown: Celebrating The Life & Music of Chris Cornell will feature four sets of music capturing the full gamut of Cornell’s career, moving through his Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, and solo records.

The event opens up with a solo Cornell tribute from Jordan Donnelly, followed by a ’90s grunge set from Alice Remains. It all culminates with a full band set from Superunkownn and a one-hour DJ set from Max Crawdaddy.

In light of Cornell’s suicide, ticket proceeds from the event will go to Beyond Blue.

During their time together, Soundgarden sold more than 10 million albums in the US alone, as well as being nominated for multiple Grammy awards while winning two.

Alongside acts live Nirvana and Pearl Jam, the group is credited with bringing grunge into the mainstream – signing with legendary indie label Sub Pop before making their major label debut and finding a watershed moment with their breakthrough track, Black Hole Sun
