Shaun Gladwell: Stereo Sequences is the result of long pans and slow motion, with each work capturing tightly choreographed repetitive performances by classical ballerinas, helicopters, motorcycles, muscle cars, trai-bike-riders and skateboards.
The exhibition was concieved and created for ACMI’s subterranean gallery and features a series of multi-screen video works exploring concepts of duality, parallels and mirroring while radiating a distinct Australian sensibility, inspired by our unique landscape and local film culture.
Accompanying the exhibition will be a series of public and education programs, include a talk by artist, Shaun Gladwell, curator, Sarah Tutton and a talk series; Mapping Terrain which will feature artists and art professionals discussing the wonders of landscape in art.
Perhaps honouring the skater-kid in Gladwell, ACMI also has something for skateboarding teens. ACMI will screen a series of skateboarding films and turn the Video Garden into a homage to the world of skateboards, balance boards, BMX and roller skating!
