Ned Collette is swapping Berlin for Brunswick, bringing new album Mixed Light to the Quadraphonic Club this October.
The launch lands at the Victoria Street venue on 9 October, with It Records presenting an evening shaped around Ned Collette’s touring quintet.
Alongside him are The Necks pianist Chris Abrahams, bassist Ben Bourke, Leah Senior on voice and Joe Talia on drums, the same group that turned heads at Rising 2025 as part of the sprawling New Rampant Optimism Roadshow. For this show they’ll dig deeper into recent material and pull out a few older favourites.

Across eight albums, Collette has carved out a reputation for literate, image-rich songwriting set against music that refuses to sit still. His work drifts through folk, jazz and avant rock, informed by the years he spent in improvised and experimental circles before stepping into songcraft. Based in his Berlin studio since 2010, he’s released through a scatter of international labels and shared stages with Cat Power, Bill Callahan, Kurt Vile and Bonnie Prince Billy, the last of whom lends his voice to the new record.
The set list promises a proper tour through the catalogue. Mixed Light sits at the centre, flanked by songs from 2024’s Our Other History and reaching all the way back to the 2006 debut Jokes & Trials that first won him a devoted following. Seeing this particular lineup stretch out across that span of material is a rare treat, especially given how seldom Collette plays on home soil these days.
Rounding out the bill is Sarah Mary Chadwick, a kindred spirit in the business of bruised, unvarnished songwriting. Word has it her own new record isn’t far off either, so expect a taste of what’s coming.
