The Australian Folk Music Awards (AFMAs) 2026 are heading to Brunswick Ballroom, bringing together the best of the genre for one huge celebration.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

The evening kicks off early, with doors to the Brunswick Artists’ Bar opening downstairs so guests can enjoy complimentary bubbles before heading upstairs.

Doors to the Ballroom proper open not long after, with the awards ceremony getting underway a little later in the evening once everyone’s settled in with a drink and some food.

The AFMAs celebrate an impressively wide spread of talent, with categories spanning contemporary and traditional folk, songwriting, multicultural contributions and youth artists, right through to the fan-favourite People’s Choice Award – the one category where the audience gets the final say.

On top of the awards themselves, the night promises a string of live performances from some of Australia’s most respected folk musicians, plus a few stories from the stage that only make sense in a room full of people who genuinely love this stuff.

Brunswick Ballroom’s cabaret-style setup makes it a fitting home for the occasion, with full bar service and a food menu on offer throughout the night. Whether you’re deeply embedded in the folk world or just after a beautiful room and great live music, this one’s worth carving out the evening for.

Tickets are limited, so it pays to lock yours in sooner rather than later.
