Carla Geneve is heading back on the road, bringing her Guard Dog tour to Brunswick Ballroom this October.
The West Australian songwriter is deep into a huge year, following on from her Double J feature album Don’t Be Afraid with a fresh round of new material, and now she’s set to bring it all to Brunswick Ballroom.
Carla Geneve and her trio have been back in the studio and back on the road, working through new tracks including the double single Guard Dog and Move Dirt Around, with more music expected before the year is out.

Her most recent release, the double single Finally Broke Me and I Still Think About You, digs into exhaustion, heartbreak and the strange calm that follows both.
The first track grew out of a gruelling touring stretch, landing on the exact point where putting on a brave face stops working. The second explores something quieter; the hazy, almost dreamlike feeling of slowly moving on from pain that once felt permanent.
Long-time collaborator Eldar Ekic helped finish off Finally Broke Me, reworking its ending years after Carla first started playing it half-formed in bars around the country.
The Melbourne date sits alongside a run of shows taking Carla Geneve across the country, with stops planned in Walyalup/Fremantle, Meanjin/Brisbane and Warrane/Sydney before she lands in Naarm/Melbourne.
Presented by Brunswick Ballroom and Billions, the Melbourne show gives fans a chance to hear the new material live, backed by Carla’s full trio.
Released via Dot Dash/Remote Control, Finally Broke Me and I Still Think About You mark another chapter in Carla Geneve’s ongoing run of unflinchingly honest songwriting — powerhouse vocals, raw vulnerability and evocative storytelling remain the throughline across her growing catalogue, and this new pairing of songs charts a full arc, from total collapse through to quiet relief.
