ON Saturday, NOV 21, 2026, Australia’s Indie Soul Icons 13-14 piece GRAND WAZOO continue their ’45 Years Legacy Tour’, revisiting a favourite venue – MEMO Music Hall – just a stone’s throw from where the band’s story began.
Founded in St Kilda in 1981 by local bandleader and trumpet, John Montesante, [an ex-Kush founding member and arranger], Grand WaZoo emerged from the suburb’s vibrant live-music culture and quickly became one of Australia’s most enduring and respected Soul Music ensembles.
More than four decades on and still led by, Montesante, these Kings of Soul continue to deliver vibrant performances that pay tribute to Black Soul Music, while thrilling contemporary audiences as well. This Hometown Revue presents ia dynamic menu of 60s-70s Black Soul, Motown, Rhythm + Blues and Band songs.
Showcasing Soul Men, Wylie J Miller + Walter Brown, with Soul Queens, Ms Melanie + Anastasia Aspeling, you’re in for a real treat! Backed by the Legendary WaZoo Horns and Rockin’ Rhythm Aces, this is the gold standard in Soul musicianship – and this music continues to appeal to all Generations – whether you’re 20 or 80 – or anywhere in between!
