Meanies and Dad Fight add Melbourne shows to their split-single tour

Melbourne stalwarts the Meanies have teamed up with Queensland’s Dad Fight for a split 7″ vinyl and a run of shows together, following a string of Queensland dates over the past week. Now the tour heads south for two Victorian gigs, plus an extra Dad Fight appearance in North Melbourne.

The Meanies and Dad Fight play Young Street Tavern in Frankston on 24 September with Jake and the Snakes, before hitting the Curtin Bandroom in Melbourne on 25 September with Operation Karma. Dad Fight also line up a solo slot at the Last Chance Rock’n’Roll Bar in North Melbourne on 23 September.

The split-single pairs the Meanies’ Blacklist with Dad Fight’s Reality Check. The Meanies’ contribution was recorded a quarter of a century ago by Shane O’Mara at his Yikesville studio, and it’s finally getting a release for the first time. It’s a punchy, hook-heavy cut that sits comfortably alongside the band’s best work.

The record is out now via Artist First, pressed in a limited edition run of 100 copies each across translucent orange, translucent blue and black. There are also Meanies and Dad Fight t-shirts up for grabs, plus a limited single and shirt bundle for anyone wanting the full set. Hard copies will be available at the merch desk at shows too, stock permitting.

With one band the old bull and the other the young calf, this pairing promises a rowdy, riff-heavy night whichever date you catch. Expect sharp, fast songs and a merch desk worth raiding before the vinyl runs dry.
