New faces, killer voices and on-stage antics abound at the Bergy this August

words by staff writer

To find out if your favourite emerging band really has the chops to go big time, you have to see them live.

The Bergy provides the perfect opportunity. With a dense, intimate bandroom with immaculate sound, an excitable yet discerning crowd of regulars, and a prime Sydney Road location, it’s one of Melbourne’s best places for bands to cut their teeth and for fans to discover cool new acts before everyone else does.

This month, the venue is playing host to buzzy new acts and international visitors alike. Heavy metal, alt-pop, hip-hop, dance, femme-punk and RnB will all grace the stage across August, so there’s something for each niche taste. However, our recommendation is just to show up on a random night, grab a round of pints and see what you get. There’s magic in the unknown.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.
