Falling for a radio DJ is a real thing, and Melbourne's Chelsea Hotel have written the song.
That song is Love On The Radio, the second single from Chelsea Hotel, out digitally on 31 July. It’s a fuzzed-out, disco-leaning follow-up to their swamp rock debut Lilly-Anne, and it’ll appear on the band’s first album, due later in 2026.
Chelsea Hotel formed in 2025 with a lineup drawn from The Seven Ups, Foggy Notion, Pseudo Mind Hive and Sin City. Songwriting is the stated priority: the soulful vocal delivery of 60s R&B, a modern boogie rock backbone, and a solid serve of country twang.

Love On The Radio pulls from a few directions at once – the woolly production style of Ty Segall, the hard-driving rhythms of ZZ Top’s Eliminator, and the disco-country crossover of Waylon Jennings. The lyrics tell the story of falling for the dulcet tones of a local radio DJ while poking fun at the clichés and trappings of the traditional love song.
The band haven’t been sitting still since their live debut in August 2025. Chelsea Hotel have shared bills with Jenny Don’t and the Spurs, Alex Hamilton, Pollyman and A.C Saunders, and have picked up airplay on PBS 106.7fm.
The launch show lands at Cactus Room in Thornbury on 14 August, with support from Ratbucket and Absent Lovers. The latter are making their live debut, built from members of The Unknowns, Fruit Tones and The Cavemen.
