Bar Yarra shifts the focus to accessible neighbourhood dining, running breakfast through to late-night service in South Yarra. Head chef Santiago Ospina is leading the kitchen with a menu built around modern Australian staples using locally sourced ingredients.

Breakfast spans shakshuka in spiced tomato sauce with whipped fetta, a Nordic plate with smoked salmon and pickled veg, and crème fraîche pancakes with seasonal fruit compote. St Remio beans power the coffee machine, with a Breakfast Booze list covering Bloody Marys and mimosas for those starting early.

Dinner moves into bistro territory with market-fresh crudités, fried calamari with chilli salt and citrus aioli, and heartier options like 250g striploin steak frites, roasted pumpkin ravioli with miso butter, and the Yarra Smash Burger loaded with double beef patties, bacon and dirty mayo.

Cocktails include an Elderberry Bloom with vodka, elderflower, raspberry and mint, plus a Spritz Del Sol mixing Aperol, tequila, Triple Sec, lime and sparkling wine. Wine list covers Australian producers and international options across price points.

Daily happy hour runs 5pm-7pm with $8 house wines, $10 spirits and Great Northern pints, plus a $15 cocktail of the week and $10 snack of the day. Throwback Thursdays bring vinyl DJs spinning nostalgic classics as the venue eases into weekend mode.

Christos Pavlidis, general manager of Ovolo Hotel South Yarra, says the venue’s designed to be approachable and energetic, opening the space up to the broader neighbourhood.

Lunch service is set to kick off in February, rounding out the all-day offering in South Yarra.
