Words by staff writer

Get ready to experience fashion like you've never seen it before.

Fashion x Music is bringing 12 visionary designers to the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall runway, with each collection paired with live musical performances.

Melbourne Recital Centre is teaming up with Melbourne Fashion Week and Collarts for Fashion x Music, a deeply immersive runway experience that reimagines what a fashion show can be. Forget recorded soundtracks and predictable beats – this is fashion meeting music in real time, creating a dynamic celebration of both art forms.

The lineup features designers including Grace Lillian Lee, Nofunović, Jason Grech, Social Studio, Antiek East, J’Aton Couture, Edition X Sarrita King, Asau by Gabriel Cole, Sean Rentero, Collective Closets, Asiyam and Gail Sorronda. Each designer brings their unique vision to the runway, accompanied by carefully curated live performances.

Musical performers span genres and cultural traditions, from singer Zipporah Corser-Anu accompanying Grace Lillian Lee, to Bharatanatyam dancers from Kahini performing with Social Studio. Maria Antares-Dalamagas will play accordion for Nofunović alongside Greek and Serbian dancers, while Australian opera singer Sian Sharp performs with Jason Grech’s collection.

The event runs for one hour across two sessions on 22 October. Ticket options range from bronze entry at $65 through to the Melbourne Fashion Week Lounge experience at $299, which includes pre-show hospitality at Miss Pearl in Southbank, premium runway seating and an exclusive gift bag.

Other highlights include piano and percussion from Taj Aldeeb for J’Aton Couture, multi-instrumentalist Dyagula performing with Edition X Sarrita King, and contemporary choreography by Melanie Lane accompanying Gail Sorronda’s collection. Ballet dancers, R&B singers and tablah players round out the diverse musical lineup.

The intimate venue setting promises a non-stop celebration where fashion and music collide, drawing on cultural stories from around the globe to create something entirely fresh for Melbourne audiences.
