Melbourne's legendary Revolver Buildings, home to the iconic Revolver Upstairs nightclub, are going to auction next month.
Fronting 229-231 Chapel Street and 24 Macquarie Street in Prahran, the Revolver Buildings have housed the renowned nightclub since 1997. Revolver Upstairs holds one of Melbourne’s rare 24-hour liquor licences and has hosted everyone from Snoop Dogg and Fatboy Slim to Fred Again, Bicep, The Avalanches and The Presets through its infamous cage and bandroom.
Beyond Revolver Upstairs and Colonel Tan’s Thai restaurant, which together occupy about a quarter of the buildings, the property houses over 30 commercial tenancies including creative studios, offices, co-working spaces and retail outlets.

Originally constructed in 1914, the landmark property forms part of the heritage-listed Colosseum building with its distinctive ionic column facade. Throughout its history, the site has operated as a department store, secretarial college, parachute factory, bakery and music rehearsal space before becoming home to Revs.
The sale includes a massive loft above the nightclub featuring nine-metre ceilings and views across the city and Chapel Street. This space has served as the home and studio of Revolver founder and Thai pop star Tan Punturaumporn, whose return to Thailand for charitable work has prompted the auction.
Long-time building manager Kurt Falkenstein says preserving the venue’s cultural significance is central to the sales process, with vendors seeking a new custodian who understands the property’s cultural value. The Revolver Buildings sit in the heart of Prahran’s Chapel Street precinct between High Street and Malvern Road, five kilometres from the Melbourne CBD.
Christie’s International Real Estate Victoria and JLL are handling the sale, with the property expected to fetch over $15 million. The listing has drawn comparisons to Sydney’s The Bonython, which sold for over $30 million in 2024.
