Irish rockers Fontaines D.C. have announced their return to Australia in 2025 with a series of headline and festival shows as part of their ROMANCE tour.

The band will play six headline shows across the country, alongside appearances at Perth Festival and Golden Plains Festival. After selling out tickets to their previously announced Melbourne date in one hour, they’ve added a second show at the same venue on Monday, March 10.

The tour will kick off on Thursday 27 February at Perth Festival, followed by Brisbane’s Riverstage on Saturday 1 March. Fontaines D.C. will then take the stage at Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong on Sunday 2 March, before heading to Sydney to perform at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Thursday 6 March. They will play Melbourne’s Palace Foreshore on Saturday, 8 March before heading to Golden Plains Festival in Meredith on Sunday 9 March and finishing up with the newly-added show on Monday 10 March.

This highly anticipated tour follows the release of Fontaines D.C.’s critically acclaimed fourth studio album, ROMANCE, which was released this year via XL Recordings / Remote Control Records. The album marks the band’s most expansive and ambitious work yet, blending their punk roots with grungier sounds, dystopian electronica, and shoegaze influences.

Reflecting on the album’s evolution, frontman Grian Chatten shared that ROMANCE contains themes the band has wanted to explore for a long time. “We say things on this record we’ve wanted to say for a long time,” Chatten said, adding, “I never feel like it’s over, but it’s nice to feel lighter.”

ROMANCE has earned widespread praise from critics, with NME calling it “knockout, spiritual songs for the end of time” and The Guardian remarking that the album “invites a bigger audience into Fontaines D.C.’s world.”
