Bands Aid brings together five experimental acts for one important cause.

This Sunday evening, the Northcote Social Club will see some of Melbourne’s most interesting artists come together in song and spirit to support the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

Running from 4:30 to 9:30pm, Bands Aid will be an intimate affair headlined by Evelyn Ida Morris, known to many for their work as Pikelet. The multi-talented musician has worked with loop pedals, playing the accordion, guitar, drums and other instruments.

Their wide-ranging style and intricate composition work has earned them support slots for acts including Sufjan Stevens, Camera Obscura and Beirut.

I’ll be playing a not-at-all-solo-Evelyn-Ida-Morris-set – actually a really once in a lifetime sweet in-the-moment set with some pals including but not limited to Mishka and Cosmo potentially some other cuties whom I’ll mention if they feel ready for it,” Evelyn wrote on Instagram.

“If there’s one gig of mine you ever come to – please let it be this one coz – let’s be real – I’m no good at promoting things and we all really want to raise plenty of funds for PCRF.”

Morris will be joined by bedroom-pop princess Hyena, percussionist Zela Papageorgiou (fresh off a residency in Japan) alongside composer Ollie Cox, and Dave O’Connor’s new material performed with Thomas Veitch on cello.

Ticket sales will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, an organisation founded in 1991 that provides free medical care to children in Palestine and the region. The organisation has issued a statement saying urgent action is needed as the devastating crisis in Gaza enters its second year and Israel escalates its attacks on Lebanon.
