Addressing the issue of accessibility to tickets during a time of economic downturn and festival cancellations, Hotter Than Hell is providing this rocking entertainment for $85, touring major names to five locations in Australia. Starting in Western Australia on Saturday 12 October with Regurgitator, Unwritten Law, Jebediah, Little Birdy, and The Kickons, Hotter Than Hell will tour to Mt Evelyn in Victoria on Saturday 19 October, Gepps Cross in South Australia on Saturday 26 October, Townsville in Queensland on Saturday 2 November, and wrap up in Brisbane on Sunday 3 November.
Having just taken flight around the country for their Invader tour, Regurgitator is the perfect headline for the rock show. Forming in Brisbane in the early 90s, the group has won multiple ARIA Awards, toured globally, and played with Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy, and Silverchair. With ten studio albums, including their groundbreaking 1996 debut Tu-Plang and the seminal Unit, Regurgitator remains a cultural force.
US ska rockers Less Than Jake will play the South Australian and Queensland shows, while punk mainstays Unwritten Law will appear exclusively in Western Australia and Victoria. Another band with a lengthy career in the Australian music scene is Jebediah. Their return with Oiks this year saw the band reignite their live flame just in time for Hotter Than Hell.
The celebration continues as Hotter Than Hell marks the first time Little Birdy will set foot back on stage in well over a decade. Frontwoman Katy Steele’s solo career has been successful, but the life of Little Birdy, with their three albums and tours with R.E.M, remains impactful. Adalita, from her Magic Dirt fronting days to her acclaimed solo career, is another mainstay in the rock scene.
Party Machines The Bennies and Perth indie rockers The Kickons round out the lineup, both bringing their infectious energy to the festival.
