Need a new sessionable sip for the summer days ahead?
You’ll find an unexpectedly refreshing mix in the bottle shop fridge, ready for those warm days.
Gin. And. Beer.
Curious? Concerned? Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it. This is not just a regular beer with added gin – it’s a brand lighter mixed drink. What’s the G&B difference? The beer itself has all of the refreshment of an ice-cold beer, but without the other ‘beery’ bits. There’s no bitter taste or that unmistakable beer smell!
And by adding some gin, this beer is transformed. G&B’s touch of sweetness enlivens its taste and makes for a new style of mixed drink that dances on the tongue. Surprisingly delicious and seriously refreshing, it’s a new mixed drink that keeps 100% of that dry finish that beer is famous for. This bit of Aussie ingenuity is changing up the beer game – hence the name, Change Up Beer Co.

We know lower alc and health conscious beverage options are rising in popularity in Australia. In just a few years, this bev category has exploded with new brands to meet demand. Lower cal seltzers and spiritous RTDs without the sugar rush, craft beer jumping in with low or zero ABV releases – there’s a health-conscious shift in the way we drink. Less drinking for the sake of getting drunk, more sociability – without sacrificing our refreshing brews.
Where does Change Up Beer Co fit in? Well, in a world of so-so seltzers and slimline vodka sodas there’s no one else punching up the refreshment of beer by adding the delicious flavour of gin to enliven our taste buds (although it seems like someone should have done it before now).
But there’s more to it. Not only is this ready-to-sip tinnie low in sugar, it’s also entirely gluten free. Score one for the gluten intolerant among us, or folks who just find regular brews a bit bloaty. An afternoon on these won’t knock you down.
At 4.2%, these tins are made for stayers – people who want a tipple that doesn’t get them too tipsy. Perfect if you’re a mindful drinker who favours flavour over a boozy kick. For the socialisers who want to keep the party going without overdoing it. Lower on ABV, but not low on taste. G&B is your new best bud, something you’ll want to sip into the evening and invite as your plus one to every gathering. Perfect to drink cold straight from the can, or you can serve it G&T style in a glass, over ice, with a zingy wedge of lime.

Keen to pick it up for your next BYO but aren’t sure how to pair those flavours with food? Don’t worry, this is a great little mixed bev enjoyed on its own, but it also plays well with a plethora of foodie occasions.
G&B is a spirited refresher for park picnics and slow afternoons of cheese-and-charcuterie grazing. It’s a perfectly light pairing for a fresh pack of fish and chips eaten by the beach. It’s your go-to stayer for hours of backyard barbequing, and the ideal companion for your fired snags and light springtime salads. The crisp, slightly sweet taste with that classic dry beer finish makes it easy to buddy up with basically anything you’re eating this summer. Anywhere you’d crack open a cold one – or reach for a zesty G&T – that’s where G&B belongs.
The Change Up Beer Co G&B is currently to be found ice-cold in the fridges of Liquorland and First Choice, but soon you’ll see them behind the bar in venues around Melbourne and hopefully the rest of Australia, soon enough. G&B will officially launch into the on-premise trade at Republica in St Kilda on October 22. Fingers crossed for great weather because it’s set to be a proper shindig, kicking off at 2pm for a long afternoon of cool refreshment and lively music from the Sol Tribe Band. Change Up Beer Co are even running a ‘bar shout’ for the day, where the G&B is on them. If you sign up on the day, you’re in with a chance to win an esky and a case of G&B.
Really, there’s no more perfect location for introducing Melbourne to the new flavour of summer than this party central beachside icon. It’s exactly where you’d want to G&B. If you haven’t had a chance to grab a pack of these refreshers yet, it’d be the ideal occasion to give it a go.
