The new round of the Pride Events and Festivals Fund is dedicated to keeping LGBTQIA+ Victorians connected.
The Victorian government’s Pride Events and Festivals Fund returns for its third year, offering $20,000 in funding for LGBTQIA+ events and projects. Due to the current restrictions, this year’s funding will be dedicated to virtual events that keep Victoria’s LGBTQIA+ community connected.
Organisations can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for events and projects to be run online before April 30, 2021. All event organisers will be required to offer meaningful access for people living with a disability to ensure that all events are inclusive and accessible.
At least 50 per cent of the grants will be dedicated to organisations based in regional and rural areas as part of the government’s commitment to providing access to a broad range of diverse events for LGBTIQA+ Victorians living outside metropolitan Melbourne.
The state government has already provided $1.14 million in targeted support to organisations which offer services for LGBTQIA+ Victorians who have been impacted by the pandemic.
“It is more important than ever for LGBTIQ Victorians to stay connected with their communities and feel proud of who they are and what they’ve achieved together,” said Minister for Equality, Martin Foley.
“I have no doubt that LGBTIQ organisations are up to the challenge of hosting events differently, and I’m excited to see the ideas for keeping our rainbow communities connected and strong,” added Victorian Commissioner for LGBTQIA+ Communities, Ro Allen.
If you have an idea for how LGBTIQ+ communities can connect during these challenging times, there’s an awesome opportunity to get support.
