Prepare to be spellbound.

After making her debut with ‘The Spell’ last year, Melbourne musician Claire Quartz, better known as Witching Hour, returns with her new single ‘Colourblind’ today.

A master of magic pop meets candy goth, Witching Hour’s sound is playful yet moody while toeing the line between light and dark. As much is especially true for ‘Colourblind’, a track which turns heartbreak into a sugary electro-pop ballad.

Melding pulsing synths and floating vocals, ‘Colourblind’ is utterly ethereal. Drawing from the experience of ignoring red flags and being blinded by love, the single is a colourful explosion of realisations and the flurry of emotions that come with having your heart broken.

Although Witching Hour had to postpone her planned video clip shoot for ‘Colourblind’ due to coronavirus, the single release is accompanied by an animated lyric video by Emerson Zandegu.

Juxtaposing the song’s themes with cutesy cartoons and pastel aesthetics, it encapsulates Witching Hour’s ability to find something sweet in even the sourest of situations.
