Kate Miller-Heidke and Pseudo Echo Eclipse PledgeMusic’s Goals

Having split from Sony Music after five releases, Miller-Heidke launched a campaign to raise funds for her next album O Vertigo. Within three days she beat her target, making hers the most successful of PledgeMusic’s local acts. Today she was 134% of her goal and climbing.

Not surprising: her rewards are compelling. For a donation of $10,000 she would play at your wedding. A $5,000 payment put you on her guest list for life or an acoustic gig at home. $1,000 got you an executive producer credit on the album, $500 made you an associate producer. For $100 she’ll phone you and sing happy birthday. Five per cent of proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund. All donors also get a copy of Heavenly Sounds Live recorded on her tour of churches, cathedrals and theatres this May and June.

Pseudo Echo launched their campaign last week to fund a new album. By today had hit 104%. Their rewards range from flying anywhere in the world to play two shows for you ($12,000), having them play at your house ($5,000), remix your song ($1200) and a signed guitar ($1,000). Five per cent of proceeds go Musicians On Call, which take recorded and live music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.

Figures released today by PledgeMusic Australia found that Australians tend to be more supportive of crowd-sourcing  campaigns. The average pledge in Australia is $75, while it is US$55 (A$58.40) in the US and £35 (A$60) in the UK. The success rate for PledgeMusic’s local campaigns is 93%.

Australian campaigns have included those by Underground Lovers, Save Live Australian Music, Lior, Amy Meredith, Marlow, Mia Dyson and Alex Lloyd, as well as global street performer DUB FX who is 95% on target for his Theory of Harmony album which is due on December 1.
