Kicking off at Brunswick’s Jazzlab this Friday January 18 are the jazz stylings of the Sam Anning Sextet. The group brings together Anning, Mat Jodrell Carl Mackey, Andrea Keller, Julien Wilson, and Danny Fischer. Anning’s most recent album, Across A Field As Vast As One, was released in May last year.
Wax Poets at Red Betty
Red Betty’s bi-monthly vinyl celebration Wax Poets will be making its long-awaited return on Friday January 18. For their first gig of the year on Sunday January 20, Catfish Gumbo will be heading to the Lomond Hotel in East Brunswick. Armed with a saxophone, guitar, keyboard and drums, Catfish Gumbo will be bringing New Orleans and Texas blues to Melbourne.
