System Of A Down will play (wait for it) ROD LAVER ARENA on Wednesday February 29. I know. I can’t believe it either. Are there going to be fireworks ‘n’ shit? Tickets on sale on Thursday.

Tassie rulers Luca Brasi have announced a national tour in support of their debut album, the very excellent Extended Family. They’re scheduled to play Poison City’s Xmas show this December 16, but after that they’ll return to play at The Gasometer on February 25.

I’m going to take a punt and assume that readers of this column have spectacular taste and thus might be interested to know that Jay & Silent Bob are touring. Apparently they just sit around and tell gnarly stories and take the piss. Should be good. They’ll be at The Palais on Thursday April 26. Tickets are on sale now y’all.

Delightful Fat Wreck band The Cobra Skulls are widely rumoured to be heading our way next year, only an Adelaide dates has seeped onto the internetz so far, but it appears the tour will be in March 2012 and they’ll be accompanied by Dead To Me. SICK.

Are you still harbouring a crush on Brandon Boyd circa Drive film clip? Yep? Me too. You might like to know that Incubus have added an additional shows at Festival Hall for Tuesday February 7. Two shows at Festival Hall. Yes. For real.

It feels like they were just here, but now Elbow have announced another Australian tour with countrymen Bombay Bicycle Club. This will all go down at Festival Hall on March 21. Tickets are available on December 6.

Canberra’s kings of hardcore I Exist have announced their Keepin’ It Denim tour which will see them roll on down to Melbourne’s East Brunswick Club on February 11. Rest assured there’s likely to be some very gnarly support bands jumping on board shortly.

The upcoming Soldiers of Immortality Tour has announced an absolute slew (yes, SLEW) of support acts to join their already burgeoning bill. Not only will Melbourne get to see Thy Art Is Murder, The Bride, War From A Harlot’s Mouth and Make Them Suffer, you’ll now also cop Dream On Dreamer! Chuck in Trainwreck for the underage show (Corner Hotel December 10) and Electrik Dynamite (Corner Hotel December 11) for the overage show, and that’s one almighty bang for your buck .

Feels like everyone wants to end their careers in Australia at the moment. First Fucked Up said their Aussie shows will be their last before a hiatus, and now Epitaph band Thursday have followed suit. They said recently that, “This year has been an endless series of personal difficulties. We’ve talked about turning Thursday into something else: a non-profit, a band that only records sporadically, a collection of other projects. Underneath it all, the personal circumstances involved make it impossible to continue Thursday in the spirit that has made it special. So, we stop. For now, at least”.

Aaannd don’t forget Thrice also announced last week that they’ll take a break from being a full-time band. Frontman Kensrue said, “For the time being, I need to step out of the role of full time recording/touring musician.” Rest assured that Kensue will continue is his work as a Worship Director at Mars Hill Church in Orange County.
