Words by Ben Lamb

With the world feeling a bit crazy at times and stress levels being at an all-time high, there’s nothing better than heading out for a laugh.

With international comedians still a while from returning to our stages, we are getting a heap of awesome shows from some great comedians who are on our doorsteps.

Melbourne doesn’t have a shortage of comedy theatres, so it’s pretty easy to find a comedy show near you. Today we’re diving into some of the coolest comedy gigs happening this month.

Check out Melbourne’s latest stage shows, stand-up comedy and theatrical events here.

Amazing Travelling Comedy Tour (ATCT)

If you’re over in the Eastern suburbs and don’t feel like travelling into the city, don’t fret, some awesome comics are heading to you! The ATCT is dedicated to bringing Australia’s best comedians to areas and regional towns that don’t usually get a lot of shows happening near them.

This show will be happening in the suburb of Knox, and will feature Kirsty Webeck, Matt Stewart and Emma Holland, as well as Mike Goldstein who you may have seen in The Hundred with Andy Lee, and Claire Hooper who is known for her work on The Project.

It’s happening tonight, and you can grab your tickets here, they start from around $30.

Comedy Connection

Comedy Connection is an awesome regular comedy night that always delivers great laughs to patrons that attend, it’s ideal for lighting up a bad day, or getting a smile on your face before you make your way into the weekend.

The show’s going down at the awesome Comedy Republic, and usually operates on a rotating roster of comedians, but has recently included Rhys Nicholson, Sami Shah, Claire Hooper, and many more. Any night with a Comedy Connection show, Comedy Republic put on some killer drinks deals as well, making it an even better experience.

It’s happening various points throughout February, check out more info here.

Geraldine Hickey

She’s one of the most prolific performers in our country, and she’s hitting the road this year. Geraldine Hickey has garnered a lot of attention recently for her work, recently winning most outstanding Show at the 2021 Melbourne Comedy Festival, so you know it’ll be an awesome show, bound to make you laugh.

She’s hitting the Malthouse Outdoor stage and will be supported by some bloody great comedians in Alex Ward, Jordan Barr, Vidya Rajan, and Celia Pacquola.

It’s taking place February 18 – February 20, grab your tickets here.

Chris Franklin

Chris Franklin has been a staple of the Aussie comedy scene for several years now, and just keeps getting better and better. His Australian based humour has sent him to plenty of places across the globe, where he has garnered a great deal of loyal fans.

He’s hitting Melbourne’s The Rubber Chicken with his Bogan Comedy Special show, which as the name suggests, is a celebration of all things bogan. He’ll be joined by Christine Basil, Evan Hocking, and Matt Tully.

It’s happening on February 19, and you can grab your tickets here. It’s also important to note, everyone in attendance will get to take home a Bogan Brewery tinnie featuring Chris Franklin and The Rubber Chicken.

Randy Feltface

Perhaps best known for his work with comedian Sammy J, Randy Feltface is hitting the road on his own, coming to the beautiful Atheneum Theatre late this month. This show is coming after a required cancellation in January, and if you already had tickets, they are still valid for this show.

It’s a brand-new hour of material, so don’t worry if you’ve seen him before, this show has a heap of fresh jokes. Usually performing musical comedy with Sammy J, Randy’s solo show will be more joke oriented.

It’s happening on February 25, grab your tickets here.
