So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

Sal Kimber & The Rollin’ Wheel. I play banjo, electric and acoustic guitar, bit of harmonica, sing and write tunes.

What do you love about making music?

There are five of us in the Rollin’ Wheel, over the last three years we have all become really close friends through making music together. Three of us even moved in together. That’s probably been my favorite part of this whole journe – gaining the most honest and genuine group of friends.

What do you hate about the music industry?

Auto tune, perhaps it should be illegal. Bring on the natural voice with its raw expression, raw emotion, authentic flaws and beauty.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

I would travel back to 1972 when the E Street Band was first being formed and I would audition as a banjo player. I would love to hang out with The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) when he was in his early 20s – sleeveless white tank tops and so much hope.

If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?

Perhaps the dude who came up with auto tune, I wouldn’t assassinate them though.

What can a punter expect from your live show?

A bit of Trueblood meets Paul Kelly, meets The B52s, or so I’m told!

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?

Our new (self titled) album was released October 14.

When’s the gig and with who?

Shine On Festival from November 18 to November 20 at Pyrenees Ranges, Victoria.

Anything else to add?

Hooray for daylight savings, I think it’s going to be a fun spring and summer.
