Name/Band:
Red Aces
Define your genre in five words or less:
Rock n Roll. Masculinity over androgyny.
So, someone is walking passed as you guys are playing, they then go get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?
“I’m afraid they’re just too darn loud.”
How long have you been gigging and writing?
We started writing together about three years ago when we grew tired of playing covers at the family Christmas party.
What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?
Well there was that time we were supported by The Stones, or the one where House of Love came over to play my birthday party and we joined them on stage for a Bowie cover… Oh wait, did you mean in real life?
Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?
Word on the street is Children Collide have some serious FIFA ’12 chops.
What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
A bittersweet mixture of sentiment and tragedy, catalysed by the life and death of family matriarch Auntie Val.
What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?
Exactly what a bunch of beancounter pricks with no rock and roll in their soul tell them to do.
Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?
We launched our debut single Death Closes All in late July. It’s available for free download at www.redacesmusic.com
Why should everyone come and see your band?
So you can say “I liked them before they were cool”.
When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?
We are launching our new single 120Y at Laundry on Saturday October 15, the CD will be available at the gig and on the website.
