Hey there! Who are we chatting with and what do you do in Los Straitjackets?
This is Eddie Angel, guitarist and founding member of Los Straitjackets.
You’re hitting up the LuWow stage with Big Sandy super soon. What does a typical Los Straitjackets set entail?
Four guys in matching suits wearing Mexican Lucha Libre masks playing sparkly matching guitars playing surf instrumentals with some fancy choreography thrown in. In addition, Big Sandy, a swinging vocalist from Southern California will be joining us singing classic rock’n’roll and R&B songs in Spanish. It’s all good fun and wildly entertaining.
You’re a wild band with some wild fans. What’s the craziest thing that’s happened at one of your shows?
The most mental gig I’ve done was playing at a nursing home for Catholic nuns. I played my wild Link Wray style instrumental song called Rampage to a roomful of nuns in wheelchairs
Why should we come down to your gig at LuWow?
If you’re a fan of traditional rock’n’roll and vintage entertainment, I suspect you won’t be disappointed by our show. We’ve played every major rock’n’roll festival on the planet, toured Europe, US, Mexico and this is our third trip to Australia.
