“The band is called i, said the sparrow; I do vocals and other miscellaneous instrumentation.”

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

"The band is called i, said the sparrow; I do vocals and other miscellaneous instrumentation."

Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?

"People will say we sound like 3Oh3! bred with Nine Inch Nails, The Killers and some generic electronic emo-core band. The other day somebody said we sound like Birds Of Tokyo… I’m of the opinion that this person has not heard Birds Of Tokyo…"

What do you love about making music?

"The freedom of expression, no rules, creating something that is going to be one of a kind and never going to be repeated."

What do you hate about the music industry?

"I’m no hater. But something that disappoints me (but excites me somewhat) is the positive correlation between musical lameness and commercial success. Although musical lameness is a matter of opinion."

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

"I would show my music to Michael Jackson. Especially the stuff I was writing when I was 11…"

If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it be and why?

"No one. I’d like to make out with Katy Perry though."

What can a punter expect from your live show?

"Anger, love, sweat, the ‘Jase pace’, dirty grooves and ENERGY."

What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?

"We’ll be selling our debut double A-side single I’m A Villain And I’m Online / Mirrors."

When’s the gig and with who?

"At The Espy as part of Rock The Bay on March 12, then at The Prague on March 13."

Anything else to add?

"We’re from Perth. Apparently there’s something in the water."
