Define your genre in five words or less:

Guitar and vocal pornography

What do you love about making music?

Pushing boundaries and experimenting with sounds and approaches to songs. I love a challenge, and I love people who make challenging music. It’s extremely important to constantly do things that haven’t already been done.

What do you hate about the music industry?

I have never had patience for dishonesty, or a lack of transparency. Unfortunately, these attributes are very easy to find in this industry, and many people simply put up with it.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

Oh man, I would love to go back and see a GG Allin gig. I’d have to hide in a corner of the room where he couldn’t see me though… Or just wear a raincoat….

When’s the gig and with who?

Well Richie Cuthbert and I are doing this as a split headline tour, and in Melbourne Alyx Marwood will be supporting the night. Oh and I’ve got a band with Leigh Fisher and Chris Hale.

Describe the worst gig you have ever played.

The worst gig I ever played was in Nymagee, where the drummer and I had nothing to do all day so we resorted to drinking heavily. By the time the gig came up, I could barely hold a note. It was rather embarrassing, but at least there weren’t many people watching

What’s your favourite song, and why?

My favourite song at the moment is Windfall by Cass McCombs. I’ve listened to that song about 500 times and am still not bored. Incredible.

If someone made a movie about your life, who would play you?

Vincent Gallo for sure. I don’t really look much like him, but I love the fact that he’s constantly frustrated.
