As Australia’s spiritual home of all things David Bowie, Odeon Richmond is honoured to celebrate David’s 78th birthday. We invite you to join an array of Bowie specialists – musicians, collectors and subject matter experts – for a 5 day festival.

Come and share your precious Bowie stories with the Bowie community.
Photos will be taken throughout this festival so bring your best F-f-f-f-fashion!

Celebrating David Bowie’s 78th birthday with five days of events including live music, film and TV screenings, Surround Sound listening session, fan collectables exhibition, discussion panels, Bowie Trivia Quiz and a BBQ lunch on Sunday.

Wednesday to Saturday night from 7pm until 1am.
Sunday afternoon from 1pm.

Opening night – Celebrating Bowie’s 78th Birthday
Exhibition and DJs
Opening of Exhibition featuring fans’ Bowie rarities and collectables. Meet the exhibitors and hear of their passion for collecting, the item’s provenance and why they selected it for their collection. This Exhibition will remain on display for the 5 day festival.

Live Music – Beka Baker
Beka Baker is a Melbourne-based singer and musician known for her intimate and stripped back renditions of rock and pop classics. Most recently, Beka staged ‘Back Catalogue Bowie: The Lesser Known Songs of the Starman’ at Odeon Richmond, which garnered rave reviews. Join Beka as she re-imagines some of your favourite Bowie tracks, imbuing them with her own unique style that encourages you to listen with a new perspective.

Bowie 5.1 Listening Session
Featuring rarely heard 5.1 Surround Sound mixes of ‘Station to Station’ (1976), ‘Heathen’ (2002) and 1978’s live album ‘Stage’ on Odeon Richmond’s dedicated surround sound system. Take part in the discussion of these and other Bowie albums presented in this immersive format.

DJs will keep the Bowie party going until very late.

Live music – The Bowie Project
Since 2014, The Bowie Project has been cherry picking Bowie compositions from across his entire career and re-inventing them as heavy instrumental jazz. Led by renowned pianist Adam Rudegair, The Bowie Project has released 5 albums of their interpretations and played to packed venues.

Bowie Trivia Quiz and ‘Bowie’s Fashion’
Team up with your Bowie friends or join as an individual and test your knowledge of all things Bowie. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners in the quiz and for and best dressed.

Panel of super fans sharing their personal Bowie stories with Q&A. You are also invited to share your stories.

Live music – The Thin White Ukes plus special guests
By popular demand and for one night only, join The Thin White Ukes, Australia’s most inventive keepers of the Bowie legacy, for a ravishing acoustic harmony celebration of David Bowie. Betty France, Michael Dwyer and Robert Stephens have performed the songs of David Bowie with small acoustic instruments and big, three-part vocal harmonies for 10 years. Put on your red shoes… they’ll be floating in a most peculiar way.
