"The day after filming, we flew to Brissy and the smell on the luxury Virgin aircraft was horrendous."

In a bold and somewhat unusual move, frontman of the Australian punk rock band FANGZ, known for their high-energy performances and catchy tunes, recently attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the most hard-boiled eggs eaten in one sitting. The band’s frontman, Josh Cottreau, took on this gastronomic challenge to celebrate the release of their latest single, Let’s Talk.

The inspiration for this quirky record attempt came to Josh while watching the 1967 prison drama film, Cool Hand Luke. In the movie, the lead character, played by Paul Newman, consumes 50 hard-boiled eggs in one sitting. Josh, feeling confident in his abilities, believed he could surpass that number by a significant margin.

Months of preparation and anticipation led up to the monumental day when Josh sat down to break the record. With determination in his eyes and a stack of hard-boiled eggs before him, he embarked on the task. In the end, Josh emerged as a world record holder, triumphantly surpassing the previous mark.

Reflecting on the experience, Josh recounted the aftermath of the record attempt, saying, “The day after filming, we flew to Brissy and the smell on the luxury Virgin aircraft was horrendous.” Despite the unusual circumstances, the band members celebrated their achievement with a mix of pride and laughter.

FANGZ has been making waves in the Australian music scene since their formation in 2019. They have played numerous sold-out shows, toured with renowned bands, and released three acclaimed EPs that have garnered support from industry heavyweights and global platforms.

To catch FANGZ in action, fans can look forward to their upcoming performance at the Oxford Art Factory’s Gallery Bar in Eora/Sydney. Additionally, the band will be launching a limited edition 7″ split vinyl with punk band Captives at The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar in Naarm/Melbourne.

FANGZ’s audacious attempt to break the Guinness World Record not only showcases their adventurous spirit but also reinforces their position as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. With their relentless energy and captivating sound, FANGZ continues to leave their mark on the world, one record and one egg at a time.
