“Ryan Meeking. I’m the guy that takes all the credit.”
What do you reckon people will say you sound like?
“I get comparisons to Jeff Buckley, Neil Finn and even Van Morrison. Not my words but nice words to hear.”
What do you love about making music?
“When I write, record, gig, jam or even think about music everything feels right. You can’t beat that.”
What do you hate about the music industry?
“The ‘industry’ part.”
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?
“Probably Bach because despite whatever opinion he might have about my music he’d be way too busy wigging-out at the sound of an electric guitar to care.”
If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?
“The Beatles. They set that bar way too high.”
What can a punter expect from your live show?
“My ordinary response to this would be lasers and robots but I’ve since realised it’s sometimes better to take a ‘less is more’ approach. So now it’s just lasers.”
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?
“I have a couple of EPs out there. You can grab them from JB or iTunes. I just cleaned out my old CD collection too so there’s a heap of albums up for grabs if anyone wants them. You’d pay $10 for a second-hand copy of The Lion King soundtrack right?”
