Lowrider

Your band’s name:

“Lowrider.”

What’s the deal with the band’s name:

“I know, what IS the deal with that?”

Define your sound in five words or less:

“Honest head boppin’ Australian soul.”

Someone is walking past as you’re playing, they get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?

“Can you believe the price of pints in this joint! Oh, and that band look like they are having one hell of a time up on that stage over there.”

And how do they dance?

“Freely.”

How long have you been gigging and writing?

“We have been doing what we do for around six or seven years now.”

What’s been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

“Hard to go past the Adelaide Big Day Out. Supporting John Legend was a huge privilege as well.”

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

“Everyone of us would have a vastly different answer for that. Essentially, each other: we all draw inspiration from what each other brings to the table. Not just musically but as people.”

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?

“Depends entirely on your definition of success. Staying true to themselves and what they are about so they are nothing but proud of everything that they have to look back on would be my way of describing success as a band.”

In dealing with each other, day in, day out, how do you deal with confrontations that involve either a mate or a bandmate? Do you have a ‘championship move’ to get a mate out of harm’s way?

“Well, my stick point has been well documented. Apart from that, if one of the guys have indulged in a few too many then we usually put them in a cab with a random girl.”

Do you have any releases to date? What? Where can I get it? Is it good?

“We have two albums, Diamond Amongst The Thieves and Round The World. We also released a self titled EP before that. You can find them on iTunes, at all good music retailers or on a million illegal download sites.”

Why should everyone come and see you?

“‘Cos they could all save money and car pool. More importantly because playing live has always been the foundation of Lowrider: it’s what we love to do and without the incredible energy we get from the crowd it can’t happen. Come join us!”

When and where are you playing next?

“We are about to embark on our most extensive national tour yet, so, everywhere basically.”

Famous last words:

“Yeah, of course I’ll call you”
