Some of Australia’s best films are getting set to screen in a new festival designed to showcase and critique the past year’s cinematic success stories.
The festival will showcase 21 feature films, as well as the 12 non-feature nominees for Best Short Fiction Film, Best Short Animation and Best Feature Documentary in contention for the inaugural Samsung AACTA Awards, which will be held in January 2012.
Another festival highlight will be special anniversary screenings of two modern classics, Lantana and Proof.
The Samsung AFI AACTA Festival of Film will bring together film-lovers and film-makers to view, discuss and judge each of the showcased films vying for Australia’s highest screen accolade – an AACTA Award.
