Great Shakes

The Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids are a kaleidoscopic, smoke, lights & lasers wall of 60's style & 90's droney fuzz from the near future. Drone pedal intros, tax man bass lines, caveman drums, reverb drenched vocals, break downs, wig outs, 20 odd fuzz pedals & guitars galore all in 5 minutes. The Melbourne quartet formed in early 2007. Lengthy periods of inactivity & numerous lineup changes suppressed any real progress whilst a frenetic last 12 months has finally seen a stable lineup and a healthy dose of gigging including two single launches. The first being the super catchy 60's styled 7", "Blow Up" on local indie Smiley McSlidey & the latter the independently released & oh so cleverly titled "Brian's Got a Rubber Soul". The Grand Rapids will release their debut LP "Great Shakes" in September this year backed with a national tour. Pre production has already begun on their sophomore & more touring & some international jaunts are being planned for 2014.
