Three Melbourne Acts Selected For SXSW
Three acts based in Melbourne are among those heading to Austin, Texas in March. Vance Joy, Money For Rope and People of Letters were among 150 acts from around the world named in the first round of acts to showcase at South By Southwest.
Other Australian acts named so far were The Swiss from Sydney, The Chevelles from Perth and London-based Sydney singer songwriter Josef Salvat.
They join acts including Bring Me The Horizon, London Grammar, Urge Overkill, The Blank Tapes and Glass Animals.
Close to 8,000 artists from over 55 countries applied to play, reported SXSW. Export music body Sounds Australia is planning another major all-day Aussie BBQ with an Australian stand in the Trade Fair and other promotional events.
The 29th film, interactive and music event takes place from Friday March 7 - Sunday March 16 with the music component beginning on Tuesday March 11.
