Who are we chatting to and what do you do in the band? G’day, you’re chatting with Piper. I play bass, sing and have lots and lots of feelings.
What do you reckon people will say you sound like? The pop sensibility of Fleetwood Mac, the raw emotion of Patti Smith, the sensitivity of Mazzy Star paired with the progressive structures of Pink Floyd and a whole lotta ripper solos…Maybe?
What do you love about making music? The freedom to be completely vulnerable.
What do you hate about the music industry? That being a female fronting a rock band is still considered “brave”.
What inspires your music most? Other musicians, love, loss and (as a means of coping), mental illness.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be? It would be Patti. Her words and mind and spirit have led me to my voice and it would be cool for her to know that. Who knows, maybe one day she will.
What can a punter expect from your live show? To be taken on a musical rollercoaster of light and dark, soft and loud, sweet and sharp, surging and dripping, pushing and pulling. All to land back on their feet, the same but maybe a little different.
