RZA love in

By Mikolai on Wednesday the 3rd of February 2010

Do you have a box of old Wu Tang Clan albums at home? Do you want to increase their value ten-fold before you hock them on eBay? You're in luck, the RZA is holding an in-store signing at Wax Museum on Friday February 12. He'll be hanging about drinking green tea and signing your various bits of tat ahead of his show at the Prince of Wales later that same night.

As everyone should know, RZA (re)invented hip hop in 1993. Or, more accurately, be brought together nine MCs to form the Wu Tang Clan. The New York collective changed the hip hop landscape forever with their debut album, 1994's 'Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)'. Based around RZA's grimy production and kung fu movie samples, the album shifted the focus from LA's gangster rap scene back to the east coast - where it stayed for the remainder of the 90s.

These days RZA has his thumbs in many pies. He's released several solo albums, provided the soundtrack for Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill', and has continued to produce for various artists. With 20 years of music to his name and huge back catalogue of hits, he's one of hip hop's most influential figures.

Oh, if you want to be particularly obnoxious, bring a crate of records for RZA to sign. He'll love that. Honest.

RZA is in-store at Wax Museum (Campbell arcade, Degraves St), Friday February 12.He plays The Prince of Wales that same night.
