Today’s guest is the man behind superstar Venezuelan (not Mexican) DJ Juan Vesuvius – Barnie Duncan. Barnie’s show Calypso Nights is a real hoot, and is on tonight through Monday at 9:45pm, Sunday at 8.45pm, and Tuesday at 6pm and 9.45pm at the Tuxedo Cat.

PODCASTGreg Behrendt and Dave Anthony record a live episode of Walking The Room, 11pm tonight in the Supper Room at the Town Hall.

FILM: If comedy films are your thing, be at ACMI tonight as three films are screened. The gala premiere of local film The Heckler will be screened at 7.30pm. Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me, a documentary about the Broadway star who most recently was seen on 30 Rock opens tonight at ACMI. Catch it from 8.40pm tonight, and at various times over the next two weeks – check out the show notes for a link. Earlier in the night is Listen Up Phillip, that one is at 6.30pm.

THURSDAYS ONLYMagic Steven opens you to his World of Feelings tonight and next Thursday only. 8pm at the RMIT Kaleide Theatre in the City. Also on Thursdays only and starting tonight is Alan Smithee’s Screen Test – the movie comedy quiz show featuring Andy Matthews and Claire Sullivan. 10:45pm at the Tuxedo Cat.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: If you speak Greek or just love your comedy in languages other than English, Kaerina Vrana performs her show About Sex in Greek tonight and every Thursday this festival. 7.30pm at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow.

FAMILY: It’s the School Holidays so why not get the whole family together to see some comedy?The (very) Big Laugh Out hosts three editions today. At the City Square Pitch it’s Les Dudes at 12.30pm, Mr Moriyasu at 1.30pm, and Jessica Arpin at 3pm. All of these are free.

At 10.30am, Sabrina D’Angelo’s show Zen the Pigeon Girl takes off from the Northcote Town Hall

At 11am, Madeleine Culp and Shane Matheson show us some Dinosaur Guts. Melbourne Town Hall. Also at the Town Hall: Harley Breen & Heath Franklin in Captain Fun Pants and the Mystery of the Fun-o-Matic Fun Wand and Trash Test Dummies. Over at The Spiegelent, it’s Dr Brown Brown Brown Brown Brown and His Singing Tiger…Again!, also at 11am.
Matty Grey Age-Less 3: Dreamweaver vs The Nightmare Child runs at the Northcote Town Hall from 11.30am.
At 12.15pm at the Town Hall, choose between Impromptunes: Tune Your Own Adventure, Jon Bennett’s family edition of It’s Rabbit Night!!!, or Showko with Ninja Ken & Sushi Monster.
At 12.30pm, Comedy Club for Kids returns to The Spiegeltent at the Melbourne Arts Centre.
Improvilicious: The Improvised Guide to High School holds court at the Melbourne Town Hall from 1.30pm. Also at 1.30pm – Josh Earl in My Family’s Weirder Than Your Family.
At 2pm choose between Alex and Luke’s Make Your Parents Disappear at The Famous Spiegeltent or Mr Snot Bottom and The Curse Of The Stinky Silly Zombie Babies at the Melbourne Town Hall.And ONGALS present their Babbling Comedy, 7pm at The Famous Spiegeltent.

LATE NIGHT: In late night news, ABC series Comedy Up Late tape another episode as part of Jameson Festival Club. Matt Okine hosts Nick Cody, Anne Edmonds, Trygve Wakenshaw, Cristela Alonzo, Josh Earl, Tegan Higginbotham, Harley Breen, Hari Kondabolu, and Ismail Ali . Doors from 11.15pm at the Hi-Fi Bar.
