DAYTIME: When the weekend rolls around, the festival doesn’t just run once it goes dark – it runs in the daytime too. Amongst the early treats:

The annual festival Op Shop Tour takes off outside the Melbourne Town Hall from 9:30am.
Ali McGregor’s early show, CabHOORAY! 11am at the Spiegeltent at the Arts Centre.
The Exford Hotel hosts three afternoon shows. Ashes: The Comedy Showdown at 1.30pm. The Best of British 3.30pm, and Full of It: The True or False Game Show at 5pm.
Michael Chamberlin lets you know his Thoughts. 4pm, Imperial Hotel.
Also at 4pm, variety show Love Bites takes place at the Downstairs Lounge at the Grand Mercure Hotel
Terry North’s Who’s Your Daddy?: The Funny Side of Parenthood has an extra edition. 4.30pm at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow.
It’s a Battle of The Superheroes: The Great Superhero Debate, 5pm at the Joint.
Rod Quantock & Fiona Scott-Norman reveal Drivetime with Two Leggy Redheads. 5.30pm at the Famous Spiegeltent
Celia Pacquola’s show Let Me Know How It All Works Out happens 5.30pm at the Victoria Hotel, but has no tickets available.
And Damian Callinan reads from The Lost WWI Diary, 5.45pm at the Town Hall.

FAMILY: Plenty of family comedy happening all day as well.

The (very) Big Laugh Out hosts three editions today. At the City Square Pitch it’s Mr Moriyasu at 11.30am, and Becky Hoops at 12.30pm. Then at 2.30pm over at Federation Square, the showcase show features Frehd The Clown, Mr Moriyasu, Sharon From Canada, Tessa Water, and Trash Test Dummies.

At 10.30am, Sabrina D’Angelo’s show Zen the Pigeon Girl takes off from the Northcote Town Hall

At 11am, Madeleine Culp & Shane Matheson show us some Dinosaur Guts. Melbourne Town Hall. Also at the Town Hall: Harley Breen & Heath Franklin in Captain Fun Pants and the Mystery of the Fun-o-Matic Fun Wand and Trash Test Dummies.
Matty Grey Age-Less 3: Dreamweaver vs The Nightmare Child runs at the Northcote Town Hall from 11.30am.
At 12.15pm at the Town Hall, choose between Impromptunes: Tune Your Own Adventure, Jon Bennett’s family edition of It’s Rabbit Night!!!, or Showko with Ninja Ken & Sushi Monster.
At 12.30pm, Comedy Club for Kids returns to The Spiegeltent at the Melbourne Arts Centre.
Improvilicious: The Improvised Guide to High School holds court at the Melbourne Town Hall from 1.30pm. Also at 1.30pm – Josh Earl in My Family’s Weirder Than Your Family.
At 2pm choose between Alex and Luke’s Make Your Parents Disappear at The Famous Spiegeltent or Mr Snot Bottom and The Curse Of The Stinky Silly Zombie Babies at the Melbourne Town Hall.
At 3.15pm, Huggers: The Family Friendly Comedy Show is on at Pleasance House.
Martz Putz in Putzin Around comes to Dockland’s Wonderland Spiegeltent. 3.30pm.
And ONGALS present their Babbling Comedy, 7pm at The Famous Spiegeltent.

PODCASTS: Three podcasts tape today:

Live room turned podcast The Shelf turns in a live podcast (confused yet). 3pm today at the Imperial Hotel.

I Love Green Guide Letters will get the letter lovers laughing, 4pm at the Athenaeum Theatre.
And industry podcast Going Places records a live ep from 5pm in the Tuxedo Cat Front Bar – that one is free.

INTERACTIVE: If you want to be part of the festival, Clench’s show Be A Bumlady offers an opportunity to perform. 2pm today at Local Birds on Little Collins St.

EXHIBITIONS: Peter Milne’s exhibition The Oddfellow’s Daughter opens at ACMI at 10am today, and That’s Funny holds an exhibition launch at Arts Project Australia 3pm. Both are free.

FOOTSCRAY: If you’re in Footscray, a special Matinee Performance of Phi and Me takes place at 4.30pm today at the Bluestone Church Arts Space. The 7.30pm edition is currently sold out.

FESTIVAL ON TV: If you can’t get out to the festival, the Opening Night Comedy Allstar Supershow airs tonight on Channel Ten at 8.30pm. Hosted by Adam Hills, guests include JimeoinStephen K AmosNina Conti, and Jen Kirkman.

SATURDAY ONLYMeshel Laurie Talks Funny. 4.15pm at the Town Hall. Comedy-dining experience A Dinner to Die For takes place 7.15pm at the Retreat Hotel 7.15pm, and Squeaky Clean Comedy holds their own clean comedy gala 7.30pm at the Melbourne City Conference Centre.

LATE NIGHT: In late night news Jameson Festival Club party this Saturday night with Comedy Bonanza. MC Anne Edmonds will bring on Heidi O’LoughlinDamien PowerUrzila CarlsonNick Cody and Greg Behrendt. After the comedy, hang back for music from DJ Malkovich & Jaydos. From 11.15pm at The Hi-Fi.

Alex Williamson holds a late edition of his show That Guy From The Internet. 10.45pm at the Athenaeum Theatre.
