Meadow 2023 lineup adds Allysha Joy, Sunfruits, Chef Chung and more

Hold onto your hats, the annual Meadow festival lineup just got even bigger for 2023 with new artists, DJs and winner of our opening band competition.

With a stellar lineup already announced for the festival’s ninth instalment of music, camping and good times, Otway’s music festival Meadow couldn’t resist inviting more of their favourite artists to the lineup for its return to the iconic Bambra Bowl.

The 2023 Meadow lineup additions feature poet, performer, and 30/70 vocalist Allysha Joy, dance music master Our Carlson, and psychedelic popsters Sunfruits back from touring across Aotearoa (NZ). Join composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Setwun and his band The Solstranauts hailing from the underground soul-jazz scene of Eora (Sydney), and alternative rapper and beatmaker Chef Chung with Melbourne upstarts delivering raw and intense surf and garage rock, The Bloody Norah’s, completing the bill.

Taking out Meadow and our annual opening band competition, Tamara & The Dreams will take their catchy dream pop born in bedrooms and grown in bandrooms to the festival stage on Friday afternoon to open the festival proceedings.

These acts join previously announced international headliner Kurt Vile and his band The Violators, featuring London’s post punk revivalists Black Midi and a local line-up of Jen Cloher, Kučka, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Big Scary, Agung Mango and many more.

Punters will also be able to catch curated sets filling the spaces between performances from part-time disk jockey & full time host of PBS Breakfast Spread’s Milo Eastwood, mixes from Barry Sunset and Windtunnel, or tracks from 3RRR Banksia presenter Vanessa Morris & the revered host of Brekstacy, on Skylab radio, Nick Saw.

With a particular focus on promoting local vendors from the Surf Coast region, the festival has also dropped its 2023 food and drink offerings, featuring a bunch of local favourites. You’ll find Pete’s Woodfired Pizza (Aireys Inlet), Perla Tacos (Torquay), Tin Can Alley Cafe (Lorne), Gypsy Burger (Torquay), Salt Brewing Company (Aireys Inlet), Heroes Vineyard (Pennyroyal), Dinny Goonan Wines (Bambra), and Livewire Wines (Bellarine Peninsula), with fan favourite cocktails with Brambleberry Gin from Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm (Murroon), Espresso Martinis brewed with beans from local roasteries, and the spicy marg served with a dollop of Nan’s Apricot Jam.

Priding themselves on their local and sustainable approach to operating a festival, Meadow will once again be run in close collaboration with Victorian sustainability organisation B-alternative and all proceeds from car passes will continue to support the replanting of native trees and shrubs across the festival site and surrounding areas (via East Otway Landcare). Hundreds of baby trees from the 2020 plantings and onwards will start to mature in Autumn as the festival kicks off. B-Alternative is a social enterprise that helps organisations eradicate waste by offering sustainable alternatives like fully recyclable plates and crockery, no single use of food and drink service items, and streamed recycling to generate new compost.

On that note, “Bambra Express” bus passes are available for the 2023 event. A $55 + BF return pass will get you from Melbourne (Brunswick or Richmond pickup locations) to Bambra and back again. There’s also a Geelong route collecting punters from the central train station for $45 + BF per return trip.

The last of the general release tickets are now on sale for $285 + BF, teenagers accompanied by adults can join the festivities but require a full ticket, while children under 12 enter for fr ee.
