The annual FreeZACentral Music Industry Program has swung into gear with mentors and mentees in all fields being announced today.

The Victorian government FreeZACentral Music Industry Mentoring Program has released the list of mentors and mentees for the 2011 program and there are some big names helping out this year.

Among the names working with FreeZACentral are ARIA winning muso Angie Hart, Cam Baines of Bodyjar, Davey Lane from You Am I and Quan Yeomans from Regurgitator. For Angie Heart it’s her third year in the program and she can’t overstate how much she enjoys it. “The value of a more experienced kindred spirit in the formative years of your music career should not be under-estimated. The people I have had the privilege to mentor, know exactly what they want and are well on the way to getting it, they just need a little support and for you to lend an ear – because it’s not easy out there! To watch them take these significant steps and try to be there for them, as they forge their path into a lifetime of music, is an honour.”

Mentors will meet their mentees over the next few weeks and explore the options available in the wide scope of the music industry. The mentees will in different areas of the business with some working on festivals like The Push and the Apollo Bay Music Festival while others work in studio to record or be recorded.
